Literally... fast facts.
Chris and I are fast-fans! The fasting we often choose is to consume zero calories for spiritual, mental, emotional and/or physical purposes for an extended period of time. I am just about to break a 3-day fast, but I wanted to sit down with you first and tell you about it.
Before my fast, I was struggling to find joy and the world seemed to be closing in on me. I needed a mental and spiritual breakthrough but just didn’t know what to do. Whenever I get to that place, I revert to fasting. It’s a way to give all I’ve got to God and trust him to do the heavy-lifting of my heavy heart. HE ALWAYS DOES.
Chris often uses fasting as a tool when he needs relief from anxiety. While he’s fasting, he experiences no symptoms from anxiety or depression! Although significant physical lows hit you in waves, fasting always comes with a mood boost and incredible mental clarity. We’ve done 3- and 5-day fasts, and Chris did a 7-day a few months ago. There are also added bonuses to fasting like all inflammation going away, and you get whole new cellular reset after 72 hours. All new cells! Your hormones and immune system reset themselves and you become a temporary superhuman.
It’s tough to defy your mind and body screaming for fuel. If you get dehydrated you can feel exhausted. And it’s a WHOLE new ballgame to fast with a toddler in tote as your physical energy is much lower. Your thoughts are incredibly clear, and I’ve never fasted without God speaking to me and dramatically changing my heart and mindset. On this fast, I felt a new freedom and new anthem rise up in me from day 1! I feel like a whole new person, and we’ve seen that when 1 person fasts in our family, God moves for all of us. He’s blessed our family tremendously and brought us breakthrough in many areas. He is so good!
