🙌 It's the Friday Call to Worship! 🙌
Have you heard the famous story of David and Goliath? A young, seemingly unqualified shepherd boy went on an inglorious errand for this father. Upon arrival, he found a mountain of a man threatening his people. The giant Goliath declared impending doom, and David's people cowered in agreement.
David looked up at the towering terror and said, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." -1 Samuel 17:45
He was too small to fit in the king's armor - and didn't know how to use it anyway. David took up what he already knew. The weapon his life had equipped him with was a slingshot. He used that simple tool to defeat Goliath and set his people free.
David became proficient with his slingshot in the quiet, mundane days when no one could see him. He became a hero in front of a giant, but the battle was won with the sheep. David spent time with the Lord in his lonely shepherding days. His hands and heart were never idle. He worshiped while he worked, practicing his aim and protecting his flock.
You are practicing and becoming proficient at something too, whether it's kindness or bitterness, faithfulness or fear.
Big or small, the Lord has placed something in your hands. He has he entrusted you with at least one more day to busy your heart in worship and practice your aim if it's not time for battle. Today is a wonderful day to worship! Set your eyes and heart on heaven while you do whatever is before you.
