🙌 It's the Friday Call to Worship! 🙌
The festive season is upon us! For some, it stirs up awe and wonder. For others, it's a fresh wave of grief or painful memories. No matter what, this time of year can get extra full. Calendars, expectations and to-do lists are filling at rapid speed.
Humanity lunges toward fullness like clockwork, filling time, tummies and pockets as the end of the year draws near. It's not inherently bad to pursue "fullness". We were created for it. Jesus called it "abundant life". You and I both know true satisfaction isn't found in a shopping mall and not even on Christmas morning, but we've all looked for it there before. We don't even know we're doing it. We auto-pilot toward extras, trying to patch up collateral damage or unmet needs we've acquired in the year.
Are you full? Are you seeking it? I am.
I want to be filled every day. Not with pumpkin pie - although I LOVE a good pumpkin pie! I want to run after fullness in my spirit that's already been paid in full. I want to quench my cravings with the One who really satisfies me first so that the "yeses" I say this season, the gifts I buy and the treats I eat are an overflow of a full heart. Being full isn't bad! Just get full of the right things first!
This is the season we celebrate Jesus coming to earth to give us access to the full, unbroken love of Christ. He gave us the keys the Kingdom and a spot on the couch in our Father's house. The whole world hustles and bustles in this special season, seeking fullness. So let's be full. Let's fill ourselves with gladness and Truth. The light of the world is here! In you!
