π It's the Friday Call to Worship! π
Covid cases are escalating wildly again in South Africa. Borders are closing. Boundaries are being drawn in every area of life.
I submitted our last set of documents to our immigration lawyer yesterday to apply for mine and our youngest's visas. Here's to hoping Home Affairs doesn't close again and borders won't stay closed too long! We'd hoped we were at the end of our 6-year stint without seeing family, but we will just wait and see.
I read Scripture this week that challenged me on what I'm seeing while I wait. In 2 King 6, the prophet Elisha awoke to find he was surrounded by an entire army against him. His servant panicked at the sight of the chariots encircling their city. Scripture picks up here - "Don't be afraid,β the prophet answered. βThose who are with us are more than those who are with them. And Elisha prayed, βOpen his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.β Then the Lord opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha." (2 Kings 6:16-17)
We are always surrounded. There are always obstacles to limit our lives if we look for them. But what would you see if you prayed and asked God to open your eyes to see what He sees? You are surrounded by more than you think. It's the all-powerful, conquering love of the one true God.
Listen to Michael W. Smith's "Surrounded", and let God show you what's really surrounding you!
