Who thinks Chris should be a Tik-Tok star? ⭐️🙋‍♀️🕺

President Cyril Ramaphosa held a "Family Meeting" for the nation of South Africa on Sunday night to address the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases. The anticipated 3rd wave has come mightily, and the government was quick to respond. ALL social gatherings, including church and church-related activities, was prohibited for a minimum of 14 days. Schools were to begin an immediate shut-down process, expediting the approaching winter break. Businesses were permitted to remain open, warning people to be extremely cautious and work from home if possible. Restaurants are only open for take-aways, and all alcohol sales were prohibited to prevent alcohol-related injuries from unnecessarily taking medical professionals and hospital beds away from Covid patients.

So, here we are again. LOCKDOWN.

The hour it didn’t rain!

The hour it didn’t rain!

Mercifully, the beaches, parks and outdoor spaces are still open, although social gatherings there are criminal offenses. Unfortunately, it has rained non-stop, except for 1 glorious hour since our lockdown started three days ago. We are finding a new rhythm once again. If anything, we are raising an incredibly resilient generation!

Chris and I are seeking God on how to keep church active, healthy and connected to Christ and one another in the midst of what is, quite honestly, a very jarring third wave of the virus. We love people, but we prefer to be face to face with them. Neither one of us are big on social media. Over the last year+, however, we've realized that THIS is what we've got. In fact, when we were able to meet in-person for church for a few months this year, several new families came because they had found us online! While a pandemic can make life feel very small, it can also connect us and glorify God to the ends of the earth.

I sensed in my quiet time a few days ago that we needed to be available in every way God had given us to encourage, glorify Him, and just bring a few smiles. It was time for me to let go of my sass and excuses to stay behind the times for the good of my children and to honor our calling. For some, it’s better to stay away from social media, and it’s good for all of us to avoid excess and certain corners of the Internet. But I have a driving conviction in me that I know is not from me to use the tools God gave us to bless His name and to just be a friend. Chris is on board too.

I'm learning how to make Instagram and Facebook stories, and trying to post more on social media. Chris has just re-joined Facebook and Instagram - and to Lifa's utter shock, he created a Tik-Tok account! (Now if we could just get him to become a Tik-Tok dance creator. 🙏🕺) We live stream on Southpoint Church's Facebook page every Tuesday night at 8pm (South Africa time); I host a prayer session on Thursdays at 8pm; and I teach Biblical encouragement on Help Club for Mom South Africa's page on Thursdays at 8:30pm.

We don't know how long we'll be on lockdown or what life will look like for the next couple of weeks, so bear with us! And tune in to social media. For now, here's a ridiculous rendition of us telling the church our story on social media last night. Love you guys! Click links below to tune in. We would LOVE to have you in live streams and interacting with us on social media!
