On Sunday night, President Ramaphosa addressed the nation to extend our Covid lockdown. Vaccinations are rolling out now, but numbers are still rising rapidly.
The very next night, he addressed the nation again on a completely different matter. There is historically horrendous civil unrest in South Africa, with looting, violence and loss of lives. The rioting is in two provinces very far from us, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. We are completely safe. We have friends and family of friends who are afraid for their lives and livelihoods. In an already unsteady nation, jobs, families, homes and hope are being lit on fire and demolished.
The president has called the army to come and support the police. So far, the violence has not been contained. So we are calling in our army of prayers, hopers, and believers. The news can give the details better than I can, so check the links below for more info.
