π It's the Friday Call to Worship! π
I finally feel like myself again after spending a few weeks under the weather. It feels incredible! When I finally started to come out of the haze, I remembered I had let go of a precious habit. I have prayed with at least one friend every week for years. A few days ago, as I drug my sore and exhausted body into bed, I texted one of my friends and asked her to pray for me to rest and recover. It was so small, almost trivial, compared to what is happening around us. People we love are losing people they love, and the nations are facing injustice and unrest. I just wanted a little more sleep and a little less pain from a temporary sickness.
Nevertheless, my faithful friend prayed. I woke up the next morning feeling like a million bucks! It was truly supernatural. I didn't realize how bad I had been feeling until I felt good again. I felt better than good. I wore a silly smile and floated through the day, whispering "Hallelujah" prayers to the One who cares about my small needs.
If God cares about that very small ask, how much does He care about the cries of our dear friend whose husband left for heaven this week? How much does He care about those in the grip of sickness, loss, or facing life or death uncertainties around the world? More than we dare ask, think, dream or imagine. (Eph 3:20)
This week's call to worship is a call to remember Him in the small things. Pray with someone for their small thing. Ask someone to pray for yours. It's collateral for the big things. It's clearing a path to praise in the hard times, building faith and finding hope when the big picture can be hard to look at. Try it! He is faithful and true!
Listen to Josh Baldwin's "My King Forever", and worship the God of the big and small!
