🙌 It's the Friday Call to Worship! 🙌

I texted a friend at the end of a peaceful Sunday to ask how I could pray for her. We were both looking at the week ahead with bulging eyes at the tasks laid out before us. We decided to spend the first five minutes of every day this week listening to a worship song and offering our day, tasks and plans to God as a spiritual act of worship.

On day two, the cold and aches I thought I'd conquered came back with a vengeance. My head pounded; my toddler squealed; and it took 30 minutes and a nebulizer to make it through that 5 minute commitment. And you won't believe what God said... "Don't do anything you planned on doing. Don't write. Don't exercise. Don't plan. Rest."

I obeyed after entertaining just a few prideful thoughts. "How can I honor You by laying around?" "What about all my obligations and commitments... I haven't even written a blog in three weeks..."

Every morning God said, "Rest" while I was ready for Him to heal me up and set me loose to do His work. Instead, my church family brought meals, no planning or writing got done, and I let my hard-earned weightlifting callouses go soft again.

I did it all with God. He did it all with me.

Days, weeks and seasons of life often don't go as planned, but God delights in being with us. It doesn't matter what you do or don't do. He wants to be invited to your bed rest or your board meeting. Listen to "Here is our Hallelujah" by Village Lights and offer Him this day as a spiritual act of worship.
