🙌 It's the Friday Call to Worship! 🙌

I would love to powerfully connect with God every single morning when I rise to give Him the first part of my day. Sometimes I'm tired, distracted, or find that I just don't know what to say.

I like to think I've learned a "hack" to connect my intention to commune with God to my distracted, sleepy reality. When I come to the table empty-handed, I simply use what He's already given us: The Word of God, living and active. (Heb 4:12)

I turn to the psalms and rewrite one as though it's from me. "You are my refuge and my fortress. You are my God, and I trust You." (From Psalm 91:2) Inevitably, as I pray from the Word, I find myself in a heart-to-heart conversation with the Word Himself. (John 1:1). The psalmist's words seem to unlock my own.

The original language of Psalm 91's context is about choosing to "set our love upon" the Lord rather than waiting to feel it. When you call, He will answer. He will be with you in trouble, rescue you, honor you, and satisfy you. (Psalm 91:15-16) You don't have to bring your A-game. You just have to show up.

The "hack" between our heart and our flesh is Jesus. He died, rose and ascended so we could have His Spirit ever-present within us, no matter how we feel. There's nothing required of us. He just wants us to come to His table. It's already been prepared with everything we need.

Even sleepy, distracted and troubled souls will encounter the living God in the living Word He's given us. Come to the table today by worshiping through His Word. Listen to Anna Golden's "Psalm 91".
