πIt's the Friday Call to Worship!π
We are "church people". My husband's favorite part of the week is preaching, and I was called the SiSwati word for "Sunday" in the community I served previously because of my passion for church.
Last Sunday, I was in the kiddies class with our 17-month old. I noticed our 4-year old wasn't dancing front and center as usual. I found him heaped on the floor with a despondent look. I knew he desired to participate, but autism was shutting him down instead.
I sat near him quietly, supporting our youngest and trusting the church that accepts him as he is. When he couldn't bear to watch the group activity, one volunteer sat next to him and showed him on her phone. When he couldn't be around others to do the craft, they pulled a table to the outskirts. In a room of bouncing toddlers and preschoolers, one volunteer remained at his side to color one side of his craft while he colored the other.
Later that day, my 4-year old used that craft to teach a friend the Bible story. We did the group activity together, and two 4-year old boys hopped around my house singing about the "POWER OF GOD!"
My son came to his Father's house as he was, even though it wasn't who he wanted to be. He was met with an unassuming love that helped him come back to who he was.
Today's Call to Worship is a call to your Father's House. Churches are full of imperfect people that have, unfortunately, caused pain for many. No household or group of people is perfect, but only one that will stand forever. You were made to flourish and find yourself in your Heavenly Father's house. If you are already active in your church, bring someone new with you this week!
