πIt's the Friday Call to Worship!π
I am sharing some of my favorite call to worships from the past during the month of January. Today's was originally sent on 11 February 2022.
Recently, a friend asked for prayer as her intense workload was impacting her physically, mentally, and relationally. Soon after, on knees wobbling with insecurity, I shared a huge need and prayer request for our family. My overworked, exhausted friend replied immediately, suddenly overjoyed that God had allowed her project to "go off the rails" and require significant overtime. To her, his meant she could be a contributor to our family's big need.
She said, "I didn't even put together, while plowing through more sleepless nights, that He could be doing all this for a Kingdom purpose! When will I finally get that the circumstances He brings into our life is all about His love for people and that not one should perish?" I was dumbfounded that someone could translate their hardship into God's love for me and find authentic joy in it.
It reminded me of the story in 2 Kings 6:8-17 when enemies of God's people surrounded the prophet Elisha's city to capture and silence him from helping God's people prosper. Elisha's servant panicked when he saw the enemy army with horses and chariots all around them. Elisha said, "Don't be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them." He prayed for his fear-struck servant's eyes to be opened, and when "the Lord opened the servant's eyes, he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire..."
There will always be enemies, obstacles, trials, and circumstances that overwhelm, exhaust, and hurt us on this earth. This week, my friend opened her eyes to see more than the enemy encamped around her. She saw heaven's purposes and plans blazing, surrounding her and empowering me to do the same. In God's Kingdom, there will always be more who are with you than those who are with them.
