Your Name in Heaven

Today I did a teaching live teaching on Facebook for the Help Club for Moms. It was inspired from this article and this YouVersion Bible plan. You can see the video below!

I love having a weekly opportunity to share with others what God is teaching me. The big takeaway message I had for moms - and myself - today was this:

“Mom” is not your name in heaven.

Your biggest job and greatest purpose in life is to know Jesus and let Him be Lord of Your life.

Your kids are watching more than they are listening. If they see Jesus on the throne in your life, they will know how to put Him on the throne in theirs.”

I went on to explain that it’s not a mom’s responsibility to make sure their kids live a good and godly live. They are entrusted to care for them and equip them for good and godly lives, but ultimately, each of us is born with free will.  A mom may have given birth or gone through the equally painful adoption process to give a child life on this earth, but Jesus is the One who died so that child could have eternal life.

Maybe you’re a mom, and you know all about that infamous “mom guilt”. Or maybe you’re a dad, a doctor, a friend, a spouse a student, a CEO, a truck driver, a teacher, or just a person trying to maneuver life since Coronavirus. We all pick up things that aren’t ours to carry. A lot of things try to name us. We instinctively look for our “job” or purpose in life, and we want to be good at it. We want to do good and be known for good.

But when those heavenly gates swing open to welcome you on a very happy day, no one is going to call you “Mom” or “Mister” or any of the other titles and talents that named your life on earth. Your titles might be a great callings you’ve been entrusted with, but they are not who you are.

You are loved.

No matter what happens with your job.

No matter how much debt you’re in.

No matter what your kids do or don’t do.

No matter what addiction you or a family member wrestle with.

No matter  what temptation you’re succumbing to.

When  you get to heaven, you are just going to be called Loved.
