My Want-To's

It’s 5:23am... I’ve had the whole house to myself for an hour. I’m full of coffee, worship music, and a good old fashioned quiet time.  All by myself. In actual quiet. This one little power hour (plus about 9,000mg of caffeine) has me all jazzed up. I started by reading a devotion from the Help Club for Moms book ( If you’re a mom, any kind of mom, click that link and get that book!)  I was re-inspired to create life-giving prayer habits and then read about faith heroes in Hebrews 11.

I ended up with a long list of things I want to do and want to be.... This is from my prayer time this morning:

I want to have a prayer habit, a Bible habit, a deeper, daily intimacy with You. I want to have a prayer binder or some sort of legacy to pass down. I want to make my sister a baby book, and I want to make our family photo album. I want to make time to be intentional about the things You put in my heart. I want Help Club to transform lives and to handle the admin of it well. I want to continuously pray for my children, husband, marriage, extended family. I want to walk in power and love. I want to be transformed by the renewing of my mind. I want to build strong friendships and a healthy body. I want to take better care of my home. I want to feel good about who I am without fear or shame - and I want that for my family. I want to be awake, creative, inspired, alive and active. I want to laugh every day and breathe You in. I want to be a worshiper. I want my family to stay close with our extended family.

If I just had 24 extra hours in each day, I’m quite sure I would be amazing. Maybe that’s why God limited us to time and space, to bodies that need rest, and to 24 perfectly ordained hours in a day. Because He is amazing.

I can’t be enough. I can’t do it all, and He knows I try to! But I can wake up each morning and ask how to do today in a way that glorifies Him. I can plan and prioritize for my goals and dreams, and then try to walk in His grace, in step with His Spirit.  Walking in close relationship with God is my greatest “want to” and is where everything else flows out from.

What do you “want to”, and how do you get there?

Bonus for the mamas: Click here for a really cool printable resource for planning your day! One of my Help Club mamas had the genius idea of laminating hers and to re-use every day!

“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose— I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]” Philippians 4:13 AMP
