The Friday Call to Worship
πIt's the Friday Call to Worship!π
Easter is approaching. Are you ready to rock and roll!?! πΈ
Jesus entered Jerusalem one Sunday with a king's welcome. People threw their coats on the ground for his colt to walk on and waved palm branches, proclaiming, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest heaven!" (Luke 19:38) The religious leaders of the time did not agree, nor did they enjoy such a rowdy praise party. They told Jesus to rebuke his disciples and shut down the celebration. He answered, βI tell you, if they were to keep silent, the stones would cry out.β Luke 19:40 πͺ¨ π
Those same praising people used their voices to condemn Jesus and demand his death on Friday. His broken, battered body was placed into a tomb with a huge stone sealing the entrance. (Matt 27:60)
But did you hear what happened on Sunday?
βοΈThat big rock rolled away, and Jesus walked out of his grave! βοΈ
One week before, He said the rocks would cry out if they stopped praising - and they did! The rock rolled! It shouted, "Hope is alive! Death has lost its sting!"
When you stop praising, the tomb stays empty anyway. When you go silent, creation proclaims the glory of the Lord.
But don't miss your chance. Let's rock and roll this morning! Cancel your disappointment, fear, hurt, and anger in the name of Jesus.
Have a praise party, and sing louder than the stones!
