πŸ™ŒIt's the Friday Call to Worship!πŸ™Œ

I love weightlifting.πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ We rent a weight set so I can exercise at home, and I train virtually twice a week with a personal trainer. I have gained surprising strength in the last year of training. It has NOTHING to do with my abilities and everything to do with consistently showing up and the calculated pushing of my trainer, David. The past few weeks have been full of extra meetings, deadlines and event planning. I had to cancel training sessions to make room for urgent needs.

The extras events are over now, and I'm still canceling workouts! My body is crying for recovery in the aftermath of a long, busy season. Discouragement began to wash over me when I realized I am not in physical shape to deadlift or bench press. But God whispered truth to me, right there in my trivial dismay.

He said, "Be thankful."

"Take stock of your weariness, and take note. Remember, you can't make everything your first priority. Be gracious when your choices or life's urgencies leave other things behind for a while. Be thankful because I will be with you in every season."

"Be thankful for a body that rejects grinding through life without pause. I designed you to need because I want you to keep returning to Me."

"Be thankful for your needs and shortcomings. Be thankful that you lack and want. That's the very place you find me."

"Just be thankful."

Today's call to worship is to take stock of yourself, take note of who God is, and be thankful. When we learn to thank God because we need, we dismantle disappointment and disempower discouragement. When life or your own fears scream, "no" through your spirit, replace it with a confident, "YES" because God is for you!
