The Hottest Heat There Ever Was

It’s peak summertime in Cape Town! The news predicted that it would be the “hottest place on earth” over the weekend, but a city in Brazil beat us by a degree or two.

This weekend (and last… and much of the week) was well over 100 degrees F by day, and sometimes in the upper 80’s at night! We don’t have air-conditioning, so we seek water by day when we can and depend on cold showers and fans at night. We’re not always comfortable, but we’ve made some good memories in the process! Sunday afternoon, the whole family ended up in Benjamin’s baby pool. We relinquished control of the water hose to Benjamin to book our spot in his pool. 😂

Also… I’m very pregnant. And there is a national watermelon shortage in South Africa, so whenever I find some, I am unfortunately unable to share it with my hot and thirsty family.
