🙌 It's the Friday Call to Worship! 🙌
I'm writing at 5am. I have been up since 2:30am with pregnancy insomnia. I've tried to stretch my sore body, pondered how to stretch our finances, and made lists of things to do. My early morning "bonus hours" were squandered with monotonous and vexing thoughts.
Now that it's time to begin the busy day, I'm setting my thoughts on Paul's firm reminder to other believers. "...all of our Jewish ancestors who walked through a wilderness long ago were under the glory cloud and passed through the waters of the sea on both sides." 1 Cor 10:1 TPT
God's people escaped generations of slavery to spend another generation wandering in a wilderness, living on daily bread and water from rocks. Their destination was only a 2 week travel distance, yet they spent 40 years wandering. They complained about sore bodies, lost opportunities, unmet needs and unsatisfied souls. But I wonder how much "loss" they have gained back if they would have remembered they were in the process of being set free. They were under a literal cloud of glory. Their very existence was the sustenance of miraculous intervention.
So often the frustrations we face are the "side effects" of God's miraculous interventions in our lives... whether it's a craving for steak instead of manna, fatigue from a healthy baby growing in a womb, or frustration with the spouse, child or friend you spent so long praying for.
We live in a beautiful tension. His Kingdom has come. His Kingdom is coming. It's now, and it's not yet. Today, let's look up in the midst of our tensions, frustrations and needs and remember we are still under the cloud of glory. And not just that, but His glory, power and unlimited love lives within us. God's goodness has nothing to do with our circumstances and everything to do with how He delivered us from being slaves to this world's troubles. See 1 Corinthians 10:13 TPT
