πŸ™ŒIt's the Friday Call to Worship!πŸ™Œ

Christian music was new to me in 2006 when Casting Crowns released "Praise You in This Storm". The band recently re-released their song with a fresh take, and it hit different this time. Not because of the different style, but because I'm in a different storm.

I remember stormy seasons when I first listened to Casting Crowns sing words inspired by Job. I belted out my declaration, "I will praise you in this storm!" But that was THAT storm. What about THIS one? I'm both stronger and more weathered from standing at lurching helms with hands lifted high, storm after storm, year after year. But can I keep standing and keep singing in this one? Can you?

Jesus and his disciples were caught in a "fierce" storm once. The disciples feared for their lives while Jesus slept on a cushion. The panicked disciples woke Jesus, and His words released "a great calm". (Mark 4:35-41)

Jesus isn't here in the flesh with us like he was on that boat. We can't watch His body language to see He's still calm when we're frightened. Scripture tells us repeatedly He's seated... SEATED... at the right hand of God. Ephesians 2:6 says we are SEATED with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

You and I have a place in the heavenly realms next to the storm-stopping, story-changing Savior. It's a present tense place where we can sit while it's still storming. Today's call to worship is a call to sit down. We can't help but praise Him if look at Who's sitting next to us, no matter the weather.

Take a seat and listen to Casting Crown's new take on "Praise You in This Storm".
