🙌 It's the Friday Call to Worship! 🙌

My 4-year old son is a psalmist in his own right. He creates his own songs and sings wherever we go. He sings stories from the Bible and about his love for Jesus... and sometimes about cats and Hot Wheels. Because he's four.

The world has been singing back to my son lately. Or, more accurately, he is starting to internalize the ways of the world. He came home from school saying (at comically inappropriate times), "This is my worst day ever!" And, "I'm sooo borrrring." He's used a few disrespectful phrases while addressing me that he did not learn in my house. I've been teaching him we can't always change what other people chose to say but, "We don't say those things in our house!"

This is no new phenomenon. Thousands of years ago, God's people were wooed by pagan Gods and corrupt living as they took their very first steps into the Promised Land. Their leader, Joshua, told them to make a choice. He essentially said, "These ways of the world will not be the ways of my household."

"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” - Joshua 24:15 NIV

This week's call to worship is a call to choose your story and the language that shapes you. We honor God when we ascribe to His Truth rather than the world's ways. We've been singing and dancing to a fun song that sings with the perspective we choose for our household this week. Listen with us today to "I'm So Blessed" by CAIN and sing out what God says about you.
