πŸ™ŒIt's the Friday Call to Worship!πŸ™Œ

Eagles were common in the Biblical climate and are often referenced in Scripture. You may have heard if you hope in the Lord, you will "soar on wing's like eagles" (Isa 40:31), but there's much more!

Moses spent 40 years unknowingly being trained to lead God's people out of slavery while he worked as a shepherd for his father-in-law. The walk to the Promised Land could have taken 2 weeks but took 40 years instead.

God gave Moses a striking song to record for the weary people in his last days of leading them. "Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings to take them up and carried them safely on his pinions...He let them ride over the highlands and feast on the crops of the fields. He nourished them with honey from the rock and olive oil from the stony ground." Deuteronomy 32:11,13

I wonder how many times Moses, the Shepherd-Wilderness Walker watched a mother eagle rousing her young to take flight. He would have seen the powerful creature swoop under her young as they started to tire. Her wingspan could not only catch the falling young, but carry them higher to try again, and protect them from a hunter's arrow that would have to pass through her wings first.

Isn't that just like God? He told Moses to write his song in Deuteronomy 32 so people throughout time, whether weary from the wilderness or bruised from another part of life, could remember the Father's arms -the unlimited wingspan of God - has always been holding us, taking us higher not further. He wasn't letting us go without the "better things" when we only had manna and rock-water. He hadn't forgotten when the thing He could have said "Yes" to ended up being a lifetime of "Not Now".

That whole time, God was saving the Israelites from being overcome by enemies.

I wonder what He's saving you from right now?
