πŸ™ŒIt's the Friday Call to Worship!πŸ™Œ

Our five-year old's brain functions differently than most. Lately, he's been showing all the signs that the pressures of daily life are closing in on him. We could see what wasn't working but didn't know what would bring relief. We decided to change his rhythms, surrender the process to God, and see where He took us.

Our son's play school is geared toward kids with special needs and meets him right where he's at. He still needed a break, even though it's a good thing. We reduced his school hours significantly for the week. He will be staying home with me every Monday to have "special time" without interference from siblings, chores, meetings or computer work - a Monday morning Sabbath in our own right.

I was surprised how the week unfolded with our wired and tired son. We walked THOUSANDS of steps, hand-in-hand. He chattered nonstop, basking in my full attention and side-by-side cadence. All he wanted to do was walk with me. I never would have guessed that's what he needed for rest.

It's not a new concept. God walked in the cool of the day with Adam and Eve in the original design of humanity. He wired us differently than the rest of His creation because He, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, desired a walking, talking, fully present, uninterrupted relationship.

Worship brings us back to the garden stride and the relationship that brings rest. Give it a try today, beloved of God. Worship walk with the God who made you for that very purpose. He will refresh your soul and reset your rhythms.

Listen to Michael Bethany's "Walk With You".
