πIt's the Friday Call to Worship!π
I love learning. Educated perspective often allows us to move forward. In my Marriage and Family Therapy Masters program, the brokenness within the inner-city Los Angeles families I served was harrowing. Once I learned to see the systems behind them and apply the intricacies of development and other critical layers, I could see hope. I felt honored to step into the trenches with hurting families and help them heal.
But my research-loving brain has hit overload lately. Too many tabs are open. There are legal processes to understand for one child, and a bottomless pit of autism resources for another. There is much to stay abreast of in building the local church in a foreign land. Meanwhile, my accent targets me for questions about the US presidency regularly. Oh- and how many grams of protein, minutes of exercise, and steps of skin care should a woman my age be achieving?
Information seems unlimited, but I am a finite being. This week, instead of trying to make sense of the things on my plate, I cleared my schedule and spent hours and hours in God's Word. I read it, wrote it, and prayed it.
"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us... to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16, 17) What more could I need?
In turning away from my hustle and into God's Word, I have been marked by the deep peace that surpasses understanding. (Philippians 4:7) I've taken up the Sword of the Spirit as my information processing center and intend to keep putting the Word before the wisdom of the world - even when it doesn't seem to make sense in my schedule. (Ephesians 6:17) Give it a try this week. Let His Word be a lamp for your feet and a light for your path. (Psalm 119:105)
