Thursday night in our kitchen
Today was a little heavy in the Ladd house.
Benjamin turns TWO tomorrow, and family feels extra far to me on the special days. Chris was weighed down with the unavoidable admin (and admin hiccups) that come with living overseas. We are calling it a night and just going to bed. Tomorrow is a new day, and we're having cake for breakfast!
I thought I'd end this night with complete ridiculous nonsense. Sometimes you need that. Real things that happened at my house tonight:
Lifa came home from an intense rugby practice and went straight outside to play basketball with his brother. He missed every single shot. I gave him a hard time about it (that's the mom I choose to be), and this conversation ensued.
Lifa: "Mom, even LeBron had bad days."
Me: "I wonder if he was as humble about them as you are."
Lifa: "I am so humble it's unbelievable. No one could be more humble than me. I'm actually proud of how humble I am." (Walks outside and continues to cheer for himself.)
It's Lifa's world, guys. I'm just living in it.
A few minutes later, I sat the boys down at the kitchen counter and fed them whatever I could find in the fridge. Chris was in his office talking to our bank in the US. All of a sudden, I heard a sound that made me think the pipes were bursting.
IT WAS BENJAMIN LADD'S BACKSIDE.
He flipped his hair, looked me straight in the eye, and cracked up. I'm losing the battle here. The boys are taking over. I love it.
There is absolutely no wisdom or encouragement in this blog except this: If you have a bad day, cherish something nonsensical, go to bed early, and then eat cake for breakfast! Love you guys!
