The Friday Call to Worship
πIt's the Friday Call to Worship! π
I laid next to my 2-year old son last night and tried to read bedtime stories. (Happy 2nd birthday, Benjamin! π) He interrupted every word I said, unable to withhold his enthusiasm. He chattered and grinned, while bobbing a dummy in his mouth like a cigar. I stopped and savoured the moment, completely consumed with love for him.
For an instant, I felt like I was on the outside looking into something extraordinary. Love for my son was pulsing through me, despite his remarkable defiance and destruction that day. I spend days cleaning mess after mess, doing unseen and unappreciated tasks, and exchanging my needs for his. And last night, as that powerful love cascaded over me, I realized that I am the one truly experiencing God's love.
His love gives. His love is made complete when costs us something precious to beneift others. Jesusβ love will quech your deepest thirst and satisfy your wildest cravings. In itβs truest form, that love compels you to love.
My children will benefit from having a mom who loves them, and I hope they grow up loving me too. But I get to walk in the fullness of the love of God in the inglorious daily giving, loving and serving. Today's call to worship is to love somebody in a way that costs you. Love somebody in a way that won't benefit you at all. That is where you will find the full expression of God, and He is so good!
"No one has ever gazed upon the fullness of Godβs splendor. But if we love one another, God makes his permanent home in us, and we make our permanent home in him, and his love is brought to its full expression in us." 1 John 4:12 TPT
