It feels like my children's holiday break will never end, and this mama is ready to nest! I loaded my darling boys in the car yesterday and said, "We're going to run errands." Benjamin spent the rest of the day trying to figure out whose house "errands" was and when we'd finally get there. 🤣

We ran errand after errand, but not at my usual speed or caliber. Benjamin stopped to point and chatter about every person, car and shop. Then he wanted to be held, which of course meant I had to stop at a bathroom every 15 minutes because there were two little boys sitting on my bladder as we traipsed through the mall. Then we had to stop for a smoothie to regain energy and sanity. Next, a dirty diaper. Lifa was undecided about how to spend his birthday money, so we went back and forth into shops analyzing his fashion future.

A few hours in, we had to reset at home with naps and lunches. The second half of the errand running day required extra snacks, a beach stop to see the kite surfers, and a energy expending stop at a park.

We accomplished much together in about 5x the amount of time I would have done it alone. But alone, I would have missed the wind blowing through my hair at the beach, the squeals of delight and scream-singing, silly car games, and quality time talking about fashion and bedroom design with Lifa.

I usually turbo through life, wildly productive with my eyes on the prize. Life and I whiz by at warp speed. But, yesterday, while we looked for "Errands House" all day, I put my eyes on the real prize: this speed of life, these blessings that slow me down and require much of me.

I look forward to the upcoming year of pit stops, slow downs, and letting the speed of life be determined by the blessings God has given me rather than the things I want to get done.
