πŸ™ŒIt's the Friday Call to Worship!πŸ™Œ

We called last week "our turning point or breaking point". An autoimmune disorder building in our five-year old's system is wreaking havoc, exacerbating existing autism-related complications. We were losing sleep, and our son woke before 4am, requiring more than we had to give. The worst of us collided as we each found our end points. My husband and I laid in bed one night, verbalizing what we'd been feeling separately. "We cannot live like this." But what was the alternative?

Have you ever wondered, "How did I get here? And why can't I get out?" I might sound over-dramatized, small-minded or selfish. There are certainly crises of much more extreme proportions. But this was ours this week. We were rattled. We got a better understanding of how so many marriages break down in special needs families, how fear, shame and more take root when you're too overwhelmed to see it happening.

Our crises do not disqualify us from our citizenship in heaven, nor do they cancel our calling to build His Church. My husband and I united around the only thing we knew: This could not break us. Maybe it could even be our breakthrough.

When we called His Name, Jesus did not "cure" our son or solve our problems. His Spirit empowered us to reach out for help. In one week, we had a school meeting, home visit, support call, moms' meetup, and appointments with two specialists. THAT was our breakthrough... The compassion of Christ entered our storm - one phone call, appointment and helping hand at a time.

Breakthroughs often come when someone is willing to step into someone else's chaos instead of leaving them to weather it alone. Jesus did. Then He gave us His Spirit so we could do it too. His Word says that, even though we can't see God, He's here. We find Him. We feel Him.. We meet Him face-to-face when we love one another. (1 John 4:12)

Heaven broke through for us this week through His people. How could we not want to do that for others?
